Developed transportation......developed India

India is largely dependent on roads and railways for transportation. It has world's second largest road network while it lies fifth in the railway network rankings.
However today, there is no proper management and maintenance of these roads and railways. This is because of corruption, shortage of funds and use of old technology . However, the government has introduced the following schemes for their development:
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna:Assam Tribune has reported that the scheme has started to change the lifestyle of many villagers as it has resulted in new roads and upgrade of certain inter-village routes in Manipur. The PMGSY is under the authority of the Ministry of Rural Development and was begun on 25 December 2000.[5] It is fully funded by the central government.

National Rail Vikas Yojana: With a view to complete strategically important projects within a stipulated period of time, a non-budgetary investment initiative for the development of Railways has been launched.. Under the scheme all the capacity bottlenecks in the critical sections of the railway network will be removed at an investment of Rs.15,000 crore over the next five years.
